How to grow plants in hydroponics

Oct 31,2022 | TangShun Chao

The current technique of growing plants without the use of soil media is known as hydroponics. How is hydroponics grown? Probably a lot of people have studied it. Now let's examine the wonders of the process together.

1. Potting to hydroponics or selecting seeds

1. Potting to hydroponics

If you want to change soil cultivation to hydroponic techniques, you must first do a good job of stripping the soil and washing the roots. Dig out the selected flower plant from the soil or gently pour it out from the pot, first lightly lift the branch stem with your right hand, lightly hold the root system with your left hand, switch out your right hand and shake it gently, slowly patting it, so that the root soil falls off to reveal all the roots. Then soak in water for 15-20 minutes, and gently and softly wash the roots with your hands. As you know, soil cultivation is organic nutrition, and after changing to hydroponics, it is completely changed to inorganic nutrition cultivation, and the organic matter in the soil and attached to the root system should be strictly cleaned so as not to affect the normal growth of hydroponics flowers and pest infestation.

2. Selecting hydroponic seeds
There are many seeds for hydroponics, but not all of them can be hydroponically grown. In general, hydroponics can also be done for the turtleback bamboo, Milan, monarchs, camellias, moonflowers, jasmine, azaleas, golden woos, lily of the valley, violets, phalaenopsis, upside down golden bells, five-needle pine, happy plantain, rubber ficus, Brazilian iron, begonias, ferns, palms and so on. There are also a variety of foliage plants. Such as the Tiannanxing family of the clump of spring taro, silver taro, fire crane flower, Guangdong hanging orchids, silver-rimmed lily of the valley; landscape species of lotus palm, hibiscus palm and other types of monarchs, pocket orchids, crabapple orchids, rich bamboo, hanging pineapple, silver-leaved chrysanthemum, Brazil wood, ivy, colored leaf grass and more than a hundred kinds.

2. Change the water

Initially 2-3 times of water change and cleaning, until the roots are completely soil-free, wash the roots of the water clear and transparent without sediment, 4-5 days in summer to add 1 time of water, 10-20 days in winter to add 1 time of water.

3. nutrient solution

The pH of the nutrient solution directly affects the state, transformation and effectiveness of nutrients in the nutrient solution. For example, phosphate is prone to precipitation in alkaline, which affects utilization; manganese and iron will also suffer from deficiency in alkaline solution due to reduced solubility. Therefore, the adjustment of pH (i.e. PH value) in nutrient solution should not be neglected. PH value can be determined by using mixed indicator colorimetric method, according to the characteristic of indicator showing different colors in nutrient solution with different Ph values, in order to determine the PH value of nutrient solution. Nutrient solution is usually prepared with well water or tap water. If the PH value of the water source is neutral or slightly alkaline, the PH value of the nutrient solution prepared is similar to that of the water source, and if it does not match, it should be adjusted. When adjusting the PH value, strong acid and alkali should be diluted with water first. When the nutrient solution is alkaline, use phosphoric acid or sulfuric acid to neutralize it, and when it is acidic, use sodium hydroxide to neutralize it, and then add it to the nutrient solution drop by drop, and keep measuring it with PH test paper until it is neutral. Note: In the hydroponic flower technology of flowering plants, a lack of certain nutrients will produce physiological disorders, affecting growth, development and flowering, and even leading to death in serious cases. Therefore, nutrient adjustment should be made to the nutrient solution in time.

4. Cleaning and hygiene

Finally, usually sprinkle some water on the foliage and rinse the roots and containers of the plants with clean water every time you change water to establish dead leaves and rotten roots so as not to pollute the hydroponic environment. And keep the air moist.
